BSEB 10 Class Exam Pattern Importance
- It gives a brief overview of the type of questions to prepare for in the exam. In 2026, Bihar Board will continue with the 50-50 format, i.e. 50% objective (MCQ) and 50% subjective. The objective questions will have 1-mark questions and the subjective questions will have short and long answer questions.
- It is important for students to understand the BSEB 10th exam pattern to prepare for board exams. Here are some reasons why you should know about the exam pattern:
- Along with the exam pattern, the syllabus also makes it clear how the marks are divided in different sections. In most subjects, 80 marks are set for the written exam and the remaining 20 marks for practical assessment.
- Since students already know that they will have to use OMR sheets for objective questions, they can practice the correct filling technique to avoid any errors in the final exam. This also helps them avoid last-minute confusion.
- If you plan your preparation according to the pattern, you can prioritise subjects with more objective questions and practice writing questions that are expected to be of 2, 3, or 5 marks.
- The exam pattern also helps in analysing how much time to devote to each section. Some subjects like Science and Social Sciences have more questions and it helps students to manage time according to the sections.
There are 5 compulsory subjects in class 10. Therefore, the total marks in Bihar Board 10th are 500. Out of the total 500 marks, students must score at least 150 marks to be declared passed. Students who score more than 300 marks are awarded first division.
